What is Ziptionary?
The concept behind Ziptionary is incredibly
simple... but once you've used it, you'll wonder how you managed
without it!
Ziptionary is a free tool for Internet Explorer
that allows you to right-click
on any word, phrase, or link and select "Search
Web" or "Search Encyclopedia",
as shown below:
Once you've right-clicked a word and selected your
type of search, your results are displayed immediately.
The Ziptionary bar (which is easily closed by clicking the X in its
top right corner) gives you
quick links to about a dozen different types of searches, all
without ever having to type your search!
Tip: If you would like to bring
up the Ziptionary search box without first right-clicking on a word,
just press Shift-Ctrl-. (that's the period key with shift and
control at the same time).
That's all there is to it! Ziptionary is
tiny (around 150K - and only one file!), fast, and can be installed
or uninstalled in seconds.
Ziptionary is completely free. Ziptionary
contains no
adware, no spyware, and no popups. Ziptionary does not mess with any of your settings
for the normal IE search box.

Why is it Free?
Ziptionary is free because it was something I
wrote for my own use: it was something I wished IE had and that I
needed.
Any time you hear the word "Free Software", one
naturally thinks of annoying adware or spyware. Ziptionary
contains none of that. The only way Ziptionary generates any
revenue for me is if and when you click on a sponsored link, for
example, in the Google search results. There are no requests
for donations, and you should never be asked to pay
for Ziptionary if you download it at another site.
The following is an index of words that Ziptionary
recognizes automatically (it's really on this page just so that the
search engines can index it), but your search terms are unlimited.
You can also select an entire phrase, sentence, or paragraph to
search on as well.
